On Ep 58 Paco, George and producer Will sit down with the Craig Staggs and Steph Swope (Minnow Mountain) the animation director and producer of the 2016 documentary Tower. Tower is a 2016 animated documentary film directed by Keith Maitland about the 1966 shootings at the University of Texas at Austin.

We talk with comedian/podcaster (Film Drunk) Vince Mancini about The Thin Blue Line, a 1988 American documentary film by Errol Morris, depicting the story of Randall Dale Adams, a man convicted and sentenced to death for a murder he did not commit. Adams’ case was reviewed and he was released from prison approximately a year after the film’s release. The Thin Blue Line has been lauded since its release, and is considered by many critics to be among the greatest documentaries ever made.

Paco and George were thrilled to have the comedy legend Wayne Federman over to talk about his favorite documentary CRUMB. Crumb is Terry Zwigoff’s (Ghost World) first film about his longtime friend and bandmate, godfather of underground comics Robert Crumb. This doc soon expands its scope to the Crumb Brothers (Maxon and Charles) and ends up going many unexpected directions.

Last year’s Sketchfest show was awesome and we’re back for more! We screened the cult “found footage” short Memorial Day 2000 and then turned the mics on our panel to dissect, debate and discuss with hilarious results. Topics include our own youthful indiscretions, Juggalos, Springer, Faygo, Warped Tour, Northern Cities Vowel Shift, what constitutes a documentary, camping fails, and much more. We even get to hear Paco play piano.

On this episode of Sup Doc Paco sits down with writer Adam Mansbach who wrote the biopic Barry currently available on Netflix. Barry is set in the year 1981 and focuses on the future president Barack Obama as he struggles to figure out his identity as he moves between various different communities and social circles while attending Columbia University. We also talk about race and identity, why he wrote his best-seller Go The Fuck To Sleep, working with Alan Zweibel, and his method and inspiration to write Barry.

Barry is a 2016 American drama film directed by Vikram Gandhi about Barack Obama’s life at Columbia University in 1981. It stars Devon Terrell, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jason Mitchell, Ashley Judd, Jenna Elfman, Ellar Coltrane, Avi Nash and Linus Roache. It was selected to be screened in the Special Presentations section at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival. The film was released on Netflix on December 16, 2016.

Paco and George sit down with comedian Bert DiVietri to talk about his favorite documentary The Death of “Superman Lives”: What Happened? Director Jon Schnepp’s 2015 film looks at the infamous Tim Burton reboot of Superman starring Nicholas Cage, which never got made.
