Heavy Metal Parking Lot documents heavy metal music fans tailgating in the parking lot outside theCapital Centre (which was demolished in December 2002) in Landover, Maryland, on May 31, 1986, before a Judas Priest concert during their Fuel for Life tour (with opening act Dokken).
‘Sup Doc, a biweekly podcast devoted to discussing documentaries has joined ART19. The show’s hosts, Paco Romane and George Chen, combine their background in culture and comedy to deconstruct current and classic documentaries. The guests are as varied as the documentaries they cover including: Jamie DeWolf, great grandson of L. Ron Hubbard, about Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief;William Hutson, co-composer of the soundtrack to Room 237; Maximum Fun/Bullseye’s Jesse Thornabout Errol Morris’ Fast Cheap and Out Of Control; and Brent Hodge the director of I Am Chris Farley.
Paco Romane was twice voted Best Comedian in SF, and has appeared in numerous, national commercials, films and plays.
George Chen is a writer and comedian who has performed at SF Sketchfest, Put Your Hands Together, Huebel and Scheer’s Crash Test, The Porchlight Storytelling Series, and SFMoMA. Producer Will Scovill also engineers the podcasts Tales From The Swan Hotel and Give Me Fiction.
The hilarious Chris Thayer will be joining us on the panel! Chris Thayer is a stand-up comic and writer. He worked on–and was featured on–TBS’ “The Pete Holmes Show”; has been a guest on a number of popular comedy podcasts, including You Made it Weird, The CrabFeast, & Put Your Hands Together, & Terrified; and has performed at SF Sketchfest, Bridgetown Comedy Festival, High Plains, Riot LA, & Crom Comedy Festival. He funny.
David Gborie is one of the funniest men in San Francisco today. He’s a powerhouse of a comedian and we’re super thrilled he’s on the show!
